A simple manual has
been prepared to travel and live in another country. It is not everything that
could be, because the list is infinite, but surely it will help you to take
some ideas. Prepare the boxes and the lists, we are moving!
GET MENTAL
AGAIN
Moving is not a tasteful dish for anyone, and moving to another country
is even more chaotic. The house is filled with boxes that look like a magnet for the little fingers of the feet,
for a few days you get up as if you had spent the night unloading trucks; you
discover that you have accumulated enough useless junk to mount your own trail.
So better take it easy from the beginning. If you can, try to
organize yourself a few weeks in advance and take advantage of the free time of
day to day to advance some tasks
PROCEDURES
Sometime before the
move you will have to start thinking about different procedures unavoidable
to leave everything tied up in your
country and gather information about the next destination.
Documents
ID and passport If they
expire while you are abroad you will have problems when you international
movers and packers Singapore to India. The
expiration date must leave the room so that, if necessary, you can return to India and
renew it. As soon as you know when you will fly to India, make an
appointment with the corresponding authority.
Various cards There will be many cards that you do not need to
take: from the supermarket, from the library ... Put them together and keep
them all in the same place. If you have a valid student card, take it with
you, since in many countries it will help you to get discounts.
Titles. If
your move is for work reasons, you may need to compel or translate your titles. Find
out if you will need them and prepare them with some time, since if you need to
process procedures at the university it may take time.
Other important documents Family book, rental contracts,
services (water, electricity, bank, telephone), Social Security information ...
Many documents are not essential, but it is good to have them on hand in case
you need them (for example, for the following statement of the Income). If
a manager keeps your accounts for you, tell him that you are leaving in case he
needs a specific document. We take the most important ones and keep the
others in a filing cabinet, which we then leave with a close relative who we
know can transfer the information to us if necessary.
Health
Vaccines For some countries it will not be necessary, but you may need
to be vaccinated sometime before the transfer. The Ministry of Health
has a useful tool to
know which vaccines are recommended for each country that also allows you to
make an appointment. If you are not sure if you need vaccinations, please
check with your health center, as the online information may be out of date.
Health and medical insurance Informing yourself about the health
system in your destination country is essential. Will you have health
coverage only when you start working? Can you go to the emergency room
without being enrolled in any center if you need it? A few days after
arriving in London I had to go urgently to the dentist to prescribe an
antibiotic and they treated me without being registered in any center for around
£ 25, but in the United States, the costs would have skyrocketed. If your
stay is short, the Youth Card of some communities, such as Catalan, works as
insurance for trips of up to 90 days.

THE FIRST DAYS OFF
Accommodation
Searching for an apartment
is part of the tasks that await you during the first weeks in your new country,
since finding
it remotely is not only difficult, but also not recommended for possible fraud (the situation is different if you move to a residence or university campus, but be
very careful with renting to individuals).
TIME TO PACK
a) To the boxes!
As soon as you know that you are going to move, get a shipment of cardboard boxes of different sizes to store all the objects that you will not take. You can buy or order them in stores, especially first thing in the morning. A couple of weeks before the move, you can start filling them with the least important, while the essentials (for example, the basic kitchen utensils to continue cooking, the sheets, and the towels) will be left for the last minute. If you store small, battery-powered appliances, remember to remove and recycle them first. Distribute the weight well (for example, books can go in small boxes, or share a box with very light objects). Of all the objects, you will have to separate the few things that will travel in the suitcase to the move from Singapore to Australia.
c) Suitcases
In the suitcases that will travel with you,
you can only put the essentials. In our case, that translates, above all,
into seasonal clothing, a few pairs of shoes and various items. Think that
it is very likely that, once you arrive in the destination country, you can
buy anything; so
many objects can stay at home because of their weight and space in the suitcase do
not compensate.
